About

'The Phoenix’ is a violin caprice composed by Chloé Charody in 2011 for violinist Sonja Schebeck.  The work was first premiered by Ms Schebeck at the Musikverein in Vienna in May 2012.  The work since went on to feature in Charody’s circus opera ‘The Carnival’. In 2016 choreographer and world renowned ballet dancer Remi Wortmeyer turned ‘The Phoenix’ into a ballet for solo dancer and violinist, featuring dancer Joey Masserelli and violinist Sonja Schebeck. The ballet was premiered on June 24 2016  by The Dutch National Ballet.
