Violin

Chloé Charody is an accomplished writer of music for the violin. This is in most part due to her long-time work relationship with the wonderful young Australian violinist/acrobat Sonja Schebeck. Below you will find a selection of works written for solo violin as well as violin with piano accompaniment.

The sheet music for Charody’s upcoming concerto for acrobatic fire-spinning violin virtuoso & orchestra titled ‘Tale of The Firebird’ will be available in late 2019.

‘Now I will dance’ | violin & piano

The premiere of 'Now I Will Dance' took place in 2008, five years after it was composed in 2003. The work was premiered by the acrobatic violin virtuoso Sonja Schebeck & pianist Ambre Hammond at The Australia Hall in Sydney. The work was met with great reception and has since gone on to feature in Charody's circus opera 'The Carnival' and as a popular concert work amongst young violinists. The work derives inspiration from Charody's Hungarian heritage with its folk-like melodies, yet the work's unpredictable structure, fragmented rhythmic patterns and dissonant outbursts shows a strong influence of modern classical music. As Charody is passionate about pushing the boundaries of classical musical performance, it is recommended for violinists to explore innovative and exciting new ways of performing this work. In Charody's circus opera 'The Carnival' for example, Sonja Schebeck likes to perform this piece upside down on an aerial harness. There are no boundaries in creativity so violinists (as well as pianists) are encouraged to bring their own innovative ideas to the presentation of this work and make it their own.
